Some of you might have heard it through the vines that I have acquired a 2002 Triumph Daytona 955i - Centennial Edition. I have known this particular bike for a few years now. It belonged to my friend Mark, who owned it for I think 5 years or so and has maintain it very, very well. However, his true love is ZRX1200. He used to own one years ago, but sold it to get an ZZR. He regretted it very much and every time we talked about motorcycles, which is every time we see each other, he would sob after his ZRX. He sold the ZZR and got Versys. Yes, the same Versys as mine. It was funny riding together. Anyway, at beginning of last year he found one ZRX in pristine condition and he bought it. Since then, the Triumph just sat in his garage, missing the attention and love it needed. He has offered it to me a few times, but for one reason or another I didn’t buy it. Well, he made me an offer I couldn’t refuse and now it is mine! Since the gas in it was over a year old, even though it was treated, we decided to pump it out and replace it with new one. We did so, but to make sure that we ran the new gas through the jets, we needed to start the bike. Now, everyone knows, you can’t just start an engine without properly heat it up. What is one to do but take it for a spin! And what a better place than the Blue Hills reservation and Chickatawbut road!

Impressions? Scary! I love the triple! The power is certainly plentiful, but yet sooo smooth! It accelerates faster than one realizes, but it handles effortlessly even in the scary speeds, the suspension is a bit hard, but very assuring and the brakes are simply amazing! If I ever had the slightest doubt about the purchase, it disappeared very quickly! I love it!
Now, I just have to get rid of the ridiculous headlights and make a proper street fighter;-0

Wow shocker!! That is one nice bike. Very different departure for you after the CB750 and Ural. Looking forward to seeing it in person!! Good photos and good review - looking forward to more first impressions ;)

See if you can get a pic of the ZRX1200 ;)

Thanks, Andy. I will get the Triumph into my shed at the end of the season when I winterize the CB750.

Thanks Peter that is a nice looking ZRX!! Not so comfy as a pillion though..i sat as a passenger on one in Japan for a few thousand miles  :-\..hard on the legs!
