Holy Christmas.... Cambridge!....  could we have the next one in Rockport?  Cool

Well we could but I for one wouldn't be all that excited about it...it's a dry town. :Smiley
Oh, and welcome to my world anytime they're south/west of Boston.  Tongue Grin Grin

Sounds like a great night...except for the karaoke. I love the skewed perspective room at the museum...wouldn't mind having one of those myself. What are those little curtained rooms for at the cabaret? Are you getting any work done at all?

Chris,

It DOESN'T but I certainly wish it did!! What a PITA holding a drink while you are trying to mow the lawn. Seriously!

Real smart ass talk from a guy half way around the world.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Seriously though if your lawn mower doesn't have a drink holder then you should have one of those hats with a straw that hold your drink. Wink :Smiley

Mike

P.S. I thought I heard some caterwauling yesterday. Have you been at the karaoke bar again Andy?

If I'm not working in Marblehead that day I should be able to make it. If I'm in Marblehead it could take me a looong time to get to Cambridge. So, we'll see...

Ah, honorable dying cat of Karaoke. My wife asked me to tell you that she's going over to your homeland next weekend for some fancy pants wedding.
Perhaps you can suggest a few choice scots phrases she can impress her hosts with?

Glad to see it's not all work and no play in the land of the rising sun,
Ben

How about...Excuse me sir but I couldn't help but notice that your bagpipe isn't quite covered by your kilt.

I think I can make the 23rd work...as long as it's somewhere that's out of audible range of Andy's karaoke. Not sure I could take a drunken scottish/japanese version of "new york, new york".

Thanks Peter...The very mention of it has my ears bleeding.

Hey Mike...did you work on the Woodman's Clam Shack set for the movie the other day? Or is that a different movie? I tried to find your smiling face in the crowd on TV, but no luck. I presumed you were inside working your magic.
Chris

Yeah Chris I was there, same movie. I was there all week. The killer was thu/fri. We reported at 6am thu. and worked 'til 3pm then reported back at midnight to strike the set and restore the location. Construction was out at 7am and the company was supposed to be out by 9am or face stiff monetary penalties. The company didn't get out until it had cost them $35,000 in penalties. That's no typo. The penalty was $7,000 an hour. Shocked Shocked Shocked

From 5am thu. 'til about 11pm fri. I had about 4 hours of sleep in the form of catnaps. I'm still tired...

Hey Mike...Sweet looking rides! Welcome to the area and to the forum. What brings you to the area from the great Pacific Northwest? Everything I've heard about Portland would make me think that it's THE place to be. Hope to see you either on the road or at the very least at a beer night.

I'd love to but I'm messing around with my carbs this weekend. If you end up going north shore as in the Cape Ann/Glostah area look me up.

Beer night is when I say it is!  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin If we're going to go for Thursday then I'd say the 23rd. The 30th is too late, the 2nd is for some reason 4th of July eve...it's also kinda soon, and I'm busy the 16th as is Peter. Maybe all this shit weather we've been having will be gone by then. It certainly won't be gone by this week. I'm also open to other nights...subject to my approval, and Andy's of course, even though he's far far away enjoying the pleasures of the Orient.

Mike...insert smiley faces everywhere

Sounds good Andy, How's everything going?

Well Alan its quite tough here....let me put it in perspective...I look out the window from work and I see sunshine...hazy, hot, humid sunshine....its supposed to be 31C today...and then I walk out the door and see a couple of female students...one is wearing denim cut-off hotpants and has long thin legs....this is not uncommon here....everywhere you go you are always seeing legs, legs, and more legs....mostly all slender and thin....and with the heat....well they do like their short skirts here...and high heels....

So like I said its pretty rough....cant wait to get back to rainy, gloomy Boston....I hope you are having a good June  Smiley

cheers
Andy

Alright Andy, that's it! I will NOT let you go to Japan again without a guide. You are obviously in WAY over your head and shouldn't be abroad, especially to an Asian country, without a mentor of some sort. If need be I can leave on very short notice to assist you in your debauchery although once there I might be hard to find.  Grin Grin Grin

Mike...your guide in waiting
420  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Something that will never happen in Boston.....summer solstice on: June 24, 2009, 10:34:10 PM
Sure, there's nothing like Stonehenge around here but there are plenty of smaller, local celebrations. Just about all of the cool people I know celebrate the summer/winter solstices and spring/fall equinoxes in one way or another. Are you cool?(not directed at anyone) The Stonehenge report almost sounds like a miniature Woodstock without the music... Wink

Mike...planet celebrator
