Autumn in VT

(1/3) > >>

On the weekend of Sept.24,25,26th Andy and I rode up to VT for an ADV Rider rally called CroMag 2010. Before you ask, the CroMag name refers to the forum member who first started hosting this meet a number of years ago. This year's location was the Silver Lake State Park in Barnard,VT. The park had officially closed for the season last weekend, but was rented out exclusively by the ADV'ers for this function. Also, the event coordinator contacted the little general store down the road and warned them that almost a hundred inmates from the asylum would be converging on their little corner, and they better stock up on beer and pizza fixin's.
The weekend was to include riders from all over, and feature rides for dirt riders, street riders and those of us somewhat capable of both.
The festivities culminated on Saturday night with the annual BBQ, food provided with a donation to the Jimmy Fund.
Weather this weekend was almost perfect. The only drawback was the hot temps on the ride up to VT on friday. We flew up 93 to briefly hop on 89 in NH, where we promptly hopped off the highway and took secondary roads Rt.9, 114 and 103 til we eventually reached 103 and 12 in Vermont.
The scenery was great and the roads mostly lightly traveled.

Once at the State Park, we set camp, and met some famous ADV riders.
Does anyone recognize this bike from the rice-o-rama thread? Liz is a staple at many of these gatherings.

Home for the next couple days...

The lake that gives Silver Lake State Park its name...

The inventiveness of some members was on exhibit- this guy from NJ turned a 650 Ninja into an offroad adventure bike...and rode it 650 miles from south jersey:

Barnard General Store- coffee, pizza, worms, beer and wifi.

There's really only three kinds of bikes at these rallies, BMW's, V-Stroms and KLR's

More later..

Cool Chris,
