It seems like we've had quite a few new members here lately, I for one would like to ask each of you to make your introductory forum post on this section.

- Tell us a little about yourself, your location, and what bike or bikes you have or have interest in.

- Don't be bashful, we're all friends in here.

- Take the first step and make the jump from lurking troll to Active Member.

I tried to figure out how to give Alan Moderator privs, but that needed to come from higher up. Perhaps next time you run into Scott?

When you write to him, ask him how he and Thom are, and when they're re-joining us, will you?

Anyone have any pointers, or should I just use common sense?

Thanks Ben for recognizing that...although you'd need 20/400 vision not to see it. Grin Grin Grin

Well, now that just about everybody except me and some newbies seem to have freakin'..."GLOBAL MODERATOR" status maybe I should start providing you knuckleheads...not you Ben...not you Chris(ooooh administrator...WELL EXCUSE ME!!!)...not you Allen...not you Scott(Grand Fromage)...not you henchman with the wrench...with a reason to moderate me.

Nah...I don't think so. From now on I'm as pure as the driven snow...until I drift.  Wink Grin Grin http://lunkhead.net/wavs/drink.wav

Mike,
All you had to do was make it to the magical 375 post count and automatically you become a mod.
Now you are required to attend beer nights. Happy?

I'm using http://www.stopforumspam.com/search to screen IP adresses, common sense let 4 known spammers on in the past week.

Does anyone use anything else to screen new members?

I get an email from the forum when someone tries to subscribe. Then I get to wield my mighty admin-stick and allow or disallow the prospective member. Also, when you find and ban a potential spammer, make sure you check all the boxes on the ban page. That helps keep them at bay by blocking by ip address, etc.

Would it help if we had one of the input code generators that prospective joiners would have to copy into a field for acceptance?
